FHGC eNews December, 2021

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Our November Book-Fair was a success. Bookshop West Portal owner Anna Bullard and her assistant Sonia Lewis gave a brief synopsis of all the books that were on displayed. The members were very active in getting some of their holiday shopping done purchasing lots of titles. All was ably chaired by Darlene Hartman. Darlene and her helpers Donna Earhart, Clorinda Aldrich, Pansy Waller made an assortment of cookies for the coffee table. Thanks to all. Great job, Darlene. The decoration for the front and coffee tables was created by Nancy Hagosian and Anna Bolechowski. All looked very nice, thank you. Chairs were set out by Darlene and put back after the event by Jane Smith, Zaia Vera, and a little help from Ingeborg.

Eva Monroe organized the Food Drive for the S.F.-Marin Food Bank. $2,050 were collected. Thank you, Eva for a successful fund drive to help feed the needy. It again was a wonderful display of generosity and caring from the Garden Club members.

Laura Outsen is in charge of Wreath Making Day on Saturday, December 4th. Come bring your own shears and gloves. Greeneries will be provided. You may bring cuttings from your gardens to share. Frames, decorative picks and bows will be for sale. Refreshments will be served. Contact Laura at (415) 564-1678 if you have questions. This event is a lot of fun. Bring your children.

Decorating the clubhouse for the party will take place on Sunday, December 5th. Those elves who come to help will be treated with a delicious lunch. The President is in charge of feeding the workforce.

Diane Wara has arranged for the FHA to buy and plant a lemon tree in a sunny spot on the lower part of the garden in memory of Maxine Dickson. Thank you Diane and the FHA for your help. Once the tree is planted, Ingeborg will write a card on behalf of the Garden Club to the family of Maxine to officially inform them of the planting.
