PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE:

The beautiful weather and flowering garden lets us know that it is the time of year when we prepare for our May get-together. It is the final meeting of the year, a year in which we have enjoyed many exciting monthly programs. The tradition of seeing our friends at the May Strawberry Social, having tea together, will unfortunately not take place at the Clubhouse due to Coronavirus concerns. Instead, we will embark on our last meeting of the year, Monday, May 18th, online via Zoom, a cloud-based video conferencing tool, to perform a very important function of the club, the installation of the newly elected officers for FY2020-2021. In spite of the circumstances, we encourage you to wear hat to this meeting. Invitation will be sent 2 days before the meeting.

COVID-19 has turned the world upside down and forced the Garden Club to cancel the March and April programs. However, some of us managed on very short notice, to come together online via Zoom to sing along with Tony Bennett the iconic song “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” to pay tribute to our heroic frontline workers who risk their lives to come to work every day so that we can be safe and cared for.

Let me thank the Nominating Committee chair Yen Bachmeier and her team Eva Monroe, Nancy Broden, Laura Outsen and Marcia Elias , for the work and dedication to complete the task of recruiting members for the new Board. Thanks to all those who have agreed to serve next year. As chair of the Nominating committee, Yen Bachmeier will perform and exercise all the duties pertaining to the installation of the new officers.

The starting date for our Exercise Class with Ann Rieger-Mathew will have to wait and the members will be informed in due time in order to sign up.

Unfortunately, at this perilous time the most important fact is, in order for us to stay healthy, we have to stay apart. For the coming summer I wish all of you a good and safe time with your loved ones. Let's stay healthy and keep in touch.
