PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

To all of you, a hearty welcome back to a New Year at the Forest Hill Garden Club. Hopefully your summer was a joyful one spent with family and friends. We ended the 2020/21 year getting together for the first time in over a year and a half, to celebrate our traditional strawberry social in May at the general meeting. It was a joy to see and have a conversation over coffee and tea with our friends and eat wonderful cakes baked by Kathleen Fong, our VP and her helper Laura Outsen.

The new officers were duly inducted by parliamentarian Kathe Farrell, all received a lovely peony to mark the event. The group of officers as a whole looked very familiar with just a couple of new faces. Thank you all for signing up to serve another year.

Our upcoming September general meeting will be the traditional chicken salad and again Kathleen Fong offered to do the cooking, intending to come back from Tahoe especially to do the work. Thank you Kathleen. Ingeborg offered to make the dessert for that occasion. Please RSVP to Ingeborg by Sept. 10.

All participants at that meeting must have received both vaccines and we will all exercise caution with masks and keep our distance to stay safe.

A little preview to our October general meeting. Eva Monroe with a team from the FAMSF flower designers will give a flower arrangement demonstration. It should be a wonderful program. Saundra McCormick volunteered to be in charge of the refreshments for that event.

For the first time in so many years, no tomatoes grew in my garden, only the leaves were huge. Like all of us, the tomato plants were waiting for summer that never came.

Stay healthy and safe. Looking forward to seeing you at our fall luncheon.

Please renew your membership by September 30, by filling out the attached application form and drop it off or mail it with your dues of $50 to Yen Bachmeier at 240 Montalvo Ave. Your membership dues are crucial in supporting the many wonderful programs we bring to you at our monthly general meetings.
