PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Under a brilliant blue sky, the Forest Hill Garden Club opened its new fiscal year on September 20, 2021. To the great delight of the members we were able to have our traditional sit-down luncheon at the clubhouse. A delicious chicken salad was prepared by our V.P. Kathleen Fong, and the dessert of tiramisu by Ingeborg did not get too many complaints either. Big thanks Kathleen, and to all the helpers, especially Laura Outsen and Marcia Elias. The tables and chairs were set-up by the girl scouts, thank you Dottie for arranging that. Tables were nicely set by Anna Bolechowski and lovely centerpieces of fall color flowers were made by Nancy Hagosian. Thanks to all the members who helped clean up after the luncheon. Thank you Eva and Mike Monroe for delivering a few lunches to our homebound members. It is truly a community effort.

A beautiful eulogy was given by Eva Monroe, celebrating the life and passing of our friend and longtime member Maxine Dickson. The last time Maxine was at the club was on her 100th birthday, two years ago. For members only, an impromptu video of the eulogy can be viewed here.

Nancy Broden is already working hard on our holiday party in December. Please see the included invitation flyer. It promises to be a fantastic party with live music and Knight’s Catering’s scrumptious food and wines. Tickets are going fast and seating is limited. Reserve your space now.

Looking toward our October general meeting, Eva Monroe and ladies from the FAMSF flower designers will demonstrate how to make beautiful arrangements. It should be a wonderful program. Refreshments will be provided by Saundra McCormick and her team. Please offer to help.

Stay healthy and safe. See you in October.
