PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Our January program "WHAT TO DO IN OUR GARDEN AFTER WINTER" with Sloat Garden Center expert Jen Strobel, was a great way to start the New Year in our Garden Club. Jen talked about pruning roses, fruit trees and grasses, about dormant spray to prevent damaging insects to remain in our garden. She emphasized the importance of good soil to promote success with planting. There were a lot of questions that were asked and answered and we were inspired to get to work in our garden.
A big THANK YOU goes to Nancy Broden, our zoom manager and to Yen Bachmeier, our webmaster for having connected all the members of the Garden Club to the meeting.
In the meantime our Nominating Committee has come together and is being chaired by Darlene Hartman, with Anna Bolechowski, Teresa Callan, Clorinda Aldrich and Saundra McCormick as her team.
We are very excited to announce our February program. Eva Monroe was able to book the upcoming FAMSF blockbuster "Last Supper in Pompeii" with docent Carol Porter. If you remember, Carol’s last talk on “CASANOVA: The Seduction of Europe” at the FHGC in 2018 was a sensation. We are thrilled to have her back this year! You won’t want to miss this.
Our treasurer Marcia Elias had a very unfortunate encounter at the dog park with two big dogs running into her from behind and knocking her to the ground. Marcia ended up in the ER with a broken clavicle, broken tibia and broken knee. She is now in rehab at Pacifica Nursing and Rehab Center, 385 Esplanade Ave., Pacifica, CA. 94044. Being laid up for the next several weeks I am sure that Marcia would love to get a card from you.
Please stay safe,
Ingeborg McGlynn

NOTES:
Upcoming Event: MARCH 15, SPRING COMMUNITY SERVICE.
We go back to donating to women shelters in the City. This year’s charity is StarBound on Mission Street. Starbound’s mission is to empower women who are experiencing homelessness, and/or on probation, parole or experiencing domestic violence by providing them with the life skills, services, and resources they need to help them transition into living a fulfilling and thriving life.
We encourage members to contribute so we could put together 50 midsize gift bags containing daily useful items such as scarves, gloves, hats, socks, pocket calendars and toiletries. Cash donation or new and gently used items are welcome.
Please bring them to Sima Talai (415-310-6483) by February 28th. Thank you! We appreciate your participation.
