PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: The November Book-Fest was held this year online via Zoom due to the ongoing threat of Covid-19. Our thanks go to Anna Bullard, owner of Bookshop West Portal who was the presenter of a very long list of interesting titles. We hope that not only those who attended the meeting, but also members who were unable to join but had received the info, support the bookstore, by purchasing at a 20% discount, books for yourself, or for friends and family members as holiday gifts. Thank you Nancy Broden for hosting the zoom meeting. Big thanks go to Yen Bachmeier for not only sending the book list to all members of the garden club, but also connecting everybody to the meeting, along with all the information needed to successfully attend the meeting. Eva Monroe gave a brief talk on the fundraising effort for the SF- Marin Food Bank as it is our fall community service. We are happy to report that so far $1,525 has been donated by 22 members. We expect more to come in next week. In these difficult times of economic hardship due to job loss and wildfires, which happened to so many people, it is essential that we reach out to help. Under the guidance of chair Anna Bolechowski, on Saturday, December 5 from 10:00AM to NOON, we will have our beloved Wreath Making Day. You can come and pick up, thanks to Kathe Farrell, our liaison with the FHA, greeneries outside the clubhouse, purchase a bow or ornament and take it home to create your own holiday decoration. There will be a table with coffee and cake produced by Marcia Elias and Ingeborg McGlynn. To be safe from contamination, every slice of cake will be isolated on a plate and shut off from the outside world within its own little holiday bag. MASK WEARING AND GLOVES ARE REQUESTED FOR ALL TO KEEP SAFE. On Saturday, December 12, Board members of the FHGC will deliver to all active members a little gift box with cookies, freshly baked by the members. Delivery will be around 11:30AM - 12:30PM. Our telephone committee of Louise Bacigalupi, Clorinda Aldrich, Saundra McCormick and Carol DeLucchi will call to alert you a couple of days before this event.
