BULLETIN

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

It was a great relief that the weatherman held off with the rain till the next day. Our Saturday December 12th, cookie gift box event, went off without a hitch and there are many big THANK YOU's, to go around.

Thank you to my baking team Nancy Broden, Marcia Elias, Darlene Hartman, and Eva Monroe. Kathleen Fong and Ingeborg McGlynn for producing a nice variety of favorite cookies. The boxes were decorated with a green or red ribbon, a lovely pine branch topped with a finishing touch of a red ball or another round ornament that Kathleen added. The delivery team of Sima Talai, Kathe Farrell, Darlene Hartman and her daughter Amy, Eva Monroe, Dottie McHugh, Yen Bachmeier and Ingeborg, delivered the Forest Hill Garden Club's special Holiday gift to 74 members in our neighborhood around noon on Saturday. For quite a few members, the little visit by a friend with a mask and keeping the distance, was a nice interruption of the day. The joy brought with that short visit to our members was very gratifying to the board members who did the delivery. Thank you team, you are great.

Our chair for the SF- Marin Food Bank Fundraiser, Eva Monroe, had the wonderful news that the FHGC raised $2,000, and that qualified us to receive a matching from the Black Rock Foundation, which doubled the donation in the name of our garden club to $4,000. In these dire times of such great need, that is something we can be proud of. Thank you all who contributed to help and thank you Eva for all your work.

Looking ahead to the New Year. We have a zoom meeting scheduled for Monday, January 18th, at 1:00PM. Jennie Strobel from Sloat Garden Center, event manager and very knowledgeable gardening expert, will discuss what should be done in the garden at this time of year. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE DISCUSSED AT THAT MEETING.

My best wishes to you and your loved ones for the upcoming Holidays, stay healthy and safe. The arrival of the vaccine fills me with great hope that 2021 will be a very good year and that in a few months’ time, we might see each other again at our lovely clubhouse. HAVE A VERY HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SAFE NEW YEAR.

-Ingeborg McGlynn
