BULLETIN

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

On President's Day holiday, the Garden Club’s well attended Community Service workshop was a huge success. Co-chairs for this event were Darlene Hartman and Eva Monroe who had beautifully set up the clubhouse for the event with helpers Amy Hartman, daughter of Darlene, Mike Monroe, husband of Eva and Anna Bolechowski who set the table for the tea. The finished succulent gift boxes were delivered to the SF Veterans hospital where staff and patients were very appreciative. Thanks to all the contributors of succulent plants. The event chairs also delivered several succulent plants gifts to our homebound members in Forest Hills. Thanks to all who helped with the clean-up. Photos of this event can be viewed here.

A wonderful tea with three different cheesecakes awaited the work force. Thank you Darlene Hartman, Marcia Elias and Ingeborg McGlynn for baking this delicious assortment.

A short business meeting preceded the workshop. The Nominating Committee consists of Zaia Vera, Kimberley Kruse, Ann Rieger-Mathew and Dena Aslanian-Williams has been formed. They are still waiting to recruit the 5th volunteer to join the committee. The President thanked Zaia Vera for the completion of our new roster with invaluable help from Yen Bachmeier.

Our March program “Bats: The Invisible Mammal”, will be chaired by Saundra McCormick. The program is free of charge to the entire Forest Hill community. The FHA has allotted $100 to help with our tea expenses and honorarium for the speaker. Also, the FHA has acquired a blue tooth microphone which the FHGC can use for all of our future events. This will help a lot. Thank you, FHA!

To quilt lovers: there were two beautiful quilts hanging over the balcony for the duration of our workshop. They will be raffled off by the S.F. Quilters Guild on March 24-25 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Eva Monroe gave a short preview of our April event. The program will be a FAMSF docent presentation of “Sargent and Spain”, which is currently on exhibition at the Legion of Honor until May 14.

A short to do list by our horticulture chair: weed, amend the soil, plant, fertilize and enjoy the work in your garden.

A lovely succulent arrangement was given by Yen to a very appreciative president. Bon Voyage to Yen and Mel.

For all of us who are staying home, keep healthy and safe, see you in March.
