PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

We welcomed the beginning of our Indian summer on the day of our general meeting, Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Garden Club. "Mission Joy, the Sequel: The Hats of Kathleen Kelley" was the feature program title. The chair of this entertaining program was Yen Bachmeier. We had a good turn-out with quite a number of guests who enjoyed a slide show accompanied by explanations, anecdotes and information about how each piece was created. This was a “Show and Sell” and Kathleen was very generous to give back to the Garden Club 10% of her sale proceeds. We are grateful for that!

Following the program, a lovely tea table in all its glory was waiting for the hungry crowd. Yen and her team: Marcia Elias, Laura Outsen, Eva Monroe and Ingeborg McGlynn produced a variety of dainty and tasty morsels to eat. Saundra McCormick welcomed members and guests at the door. Two arrangements of flowers and table setting was done by our house committee Nancy Hagosian and Anna Bolechowski. Yen again set up all the chairs and audio-visual equipment for the event. She also enhanced the tea table with whimsical miniature succulents in attractive Japanese vintage tea cups. Thank you all for making our October program a big success.

We had a short business meeting before the program started with a preview of our November Book Fair. As Darlene Hartman, chair of that program was unable to be at the meeting, Ingeborg gave a little information and invited guests to come and join us for that always enjoyable event. Bookshop West Portal will bring lots of titles for adults and children to the clubhouse. There will be a 20% discount applied to books purchased in anticipation of the upcoming holidays.

Eva Monroe will again be in charge of our annual food drive for SF-Marin Food Bank. Members are asked to be generous with your donation via check. Many thanks to all of you who contribute to this worthy cause. If you would like help with refreshments, please contact Darlene. Thank you all for helping. See flyer here.

A very short to do list reminded us to water our garden at least once a week during this drought. Looking forward to seeing you at our November meeting and please bring a guest.

Stay safe and healthy, get your flu shot and your booster for the COVID variant, all is available.
