PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE:
Our General Meeting on Monday, March 16th was a community service project-‘Succulent Planters and Book Drive for the San Francisco Veterans Hospital’. Most special thanks go to Darlene Hartman for organizing this outstanding and worthwhile event. Also, special thanks to Ingeborg McGlynn and Laura Outsen and other members for bringing succulents plants from their gardens. It was fun to watch the members roll up their sleeves to create and assemble unique succulents which were placed into small clear plastic box containers. In addition to bringing the succulents from their gardens, the members also collected and donated many books which were delivered to the veterans. A big thank you also goes to Sima Talai and her husband Mohammad for delivering the books and plants to the VA Hospital. Many thanks go to Louise Bacigalupi and Helen Scholten for providing the refreshments and baking the delicious green and chocolate pies which the members enjoyed very much. Last but not least, many thanks go to Nancy Hagosian for assembling the lovely red, white and blue floral arrangements in honor of the veterans.
On Friday, March 27th, Sima Talai hosted a Middle Eastern Style dinner to benefit Moms Against Poverty, a volunteer-based, non- profit charity. A good time was had by all who attended the event.

Oxana Sanukova, star pupil of Steven Brown’s acclaimed CCSF’s Floristry Design Program will
present a floral design class to us for our April Program. The owner of Sol Ambiance in the East Bay,
Oxana has exhibited her designs extensively during her education at City College’s Floral Program.
She will complete 4-6 floral designs with commentary about technique, material and resources.
At the end of her program, the completed designs will be raffled off to the lucky winners in
attendance.
Come to learn and to bring home a beautiful arrangement - if you are the lucky winner!
Please bring a friend, guests are most welcome.

Come to the Forest Hill Garden Club’s spring dinner party with an informal, Italian theme.
Join your Forest Hill friends for a delicious Italian dinner, melodic music, and wonderful wines.
Cost is $25 per person for Garden Club members and their spouses/partners or $30 per person for
all others. Please send your checks, payable to the Forest Hill Garden Club, to Katie Balestreri,
241 Montalvo Avenue, SF 94116 as soon as possible, but by April 17 at the latest so we can plan
appropriately. We still need helpers for decorations, set-up, food service, and clean up,
so let Katie know if you would like to help.
